West Shore Association Mission Statement

The mission of the West Shore Association is to promote the interests of all members and the business interests of the West Shore communities of Lake Tahoe, CA. These interests include encouraging tourism and activities, coordination community project involvement, supporting special events, and active involvement in important issues affecting the membership base and the West Shore region.

 

Board of Director Positions

President

Average expected commitment per month: 2-3hrs (includes WSA meetings)

The WSA President will be the driving force behind the WSA and its mission statement. They will call and hold WSA meetings on a monthly basis, make sure all voices from the board and community are heard and continue to increase association awareness and membership. They will strive to push for new initiatives, new events and represent the organization in the community. They will also be responsible for keeping the meeting minutes (or finding a minute taker). They are responsible for submitting grant applications and presentations including the BACC funding, working with CalTrans regarding construction messaging, and Placer County funding and coordination. They will work closely with all Chair Members but specifically the Accounting Chair and the Membership Chair.

Accounting Chair

Average expected commitment per month: 2-3hrs (includes WSA meetings)

The WSA Accountant will be responsible for all accounting aspects of the association, including bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, collect membership dues, grant funding allocation and taxes. They will also be responsible for the associations non-profit classification and making sure all paperwork is in place for the organization. Because this position will be collecting membership dues, they will also be responsible for checking the association’s PO box and collecting the mail (located in Homewood)

Marketing Chair - Filled

Average expected commitment per month: 3-4hrs (includes WSA meetings)

The Marketing Chair of the board is the main point of contact for WSA marketing outreach and advertising spend. They will use the mission statement and the goals of the WSA committee to push brand messaging through eBlasts, social media channels, the website, other partners and through the community. The Marketing Chair will also work closely with the hired marketing company to place ad buys and monitor the marketing budget - including but not limited to running social media contests, gaining impressions, updating the website, listing events and placing print ads. They will also be responsible for increasing eBlast signups, creating and sending eBlast communications to both guests and members.

Events Chair

Average expected commitment per month: 3-4hrs (includes WSA meetings)

The WSA Events Chair will be the main contact and communication liaison for all West Shore events. This position does not have to be involved with current long-standing events (such as Lake Tahoe Music Festival) but is expected to relay information between the event board and the WSA board. In addition, the Events Chair will be responsible for leading the charge on any new WSA events, such as reviving Opening Day at the Lake and July 5th Fireworks. They will also take the lead on creating fundraising for these events, including silent auctions, donation requests and so on.

Membership Chair - Filled

Average expected commitment per month: 3-4hrs (includes WSA meetings)

The Membership Chair will be responsible for driving all aspects of WSA membership including, soliciting new members, outreach, relaying benefits, organizing mixers and so on. They will also work with the Marketing Chair to draft membership eBlasts, encourage members to post events and updates on the website and push out membership messages. They will work with the Accounting Chair to confirm all dues are collected, send invoices when needed and send out notices regarding past due amounts. They will be responsible for creating a membership renewal calendar and communicating with the other WSA board on a due’s timeline and suggesting cost.

BACC Representative

Average expected commitment per month: 2-3hrs (includes WSA meetings)

The BACC Representative is responsible for representing the WSA at all meetings. BACC meetings occur once a month and discuss regional marketing, what issues North Lake Tahoe faces and how to combat them with different messaging (example: High Notes, Peak your Adventure). The BACC Chair Representative is the liaison between the BACC and the WSA, acting as the voice for the association, advocating for the West Shore and relaying the information back to the WSA Board.
