Alpenglow Sports is proud to the fifth and final installment of the 10th anniversary Winter Film Series, presented by 101.5 KTKE Truckee Tahoe Radio. On Thursday, March 17th, 2016 7pm Kate Rutherford will round out the series at Squaw Valley’s Olympic Village Lodge. Rutherford will present “The Year of the Leaning Towers,” which will showcase her life weaving together the threads of new routes in remote mountain ranges on distant continents, art, and fun big walls at home in California.

“We’re very excited to round out the season with Kate,” according to Alpenglow Sports owner Brendan Madigan. “She’s been a staple in the rock climbing world for over a decade and her global adventures in search of new ascents in remote mountain ranges are highly inspiring,” said Madigan.
Rutherford’s show “The Year of the Leaning Towers” will follow Kate from achieving her life time goal of climbing all 7 summits of the Fitz Roy Range in Patagonia, to new routes in Canada, and finally to more complex goals that rally the whole climbing community in Yosemite Valley. In Patagonia, Yosemite Valley and new routes in the rugged wilds of British Columbia beautiful granite and climbing partners are the stars of the climbing show.
The Alpenglow Sports Winter Film Series has become an eagerly anticipated winter tradition for North Tahoe’s skiing, climbing, and adventure community. Designed to inspire, motivate and educate, the event runs from November through March and showcases five famous athletes who tell various tales of adventure from remote mountain ranges across the globe.

All shows are free and raffle prizes from sponsors are sold to raise funds for local non-profit organizations.

From the inception in 2006 the Winter Film Series has raised over $70,000 for local non-profits making a tangible difference in the North Lake Tahoe community.

The non-profit beneficiary for Rutherford’s evening is Send It Foundation, a group that seeks to inspire positivity, courage and gratitude in young adult cancer fighters through the gift of outdoor adventure and community.
